Supporting Our Community

Cooper Grace Ward Corporate Citizen Program

As part of our ongoing commitment to the community at large, the firm has a Corporate Citizen Program in place to support various community programs which strive to enhance and improve welfare, environmental projects or medical research.

In 2008, the CGW Corporate Citizen Program will be raising funds & participating in volunteer work for two main charities: Youngcare & RSPCA.

Youngcare

Many young people (7000 in Australia) with high care needs have no choice other than to live in aged care facilities, simply because there are no other alternatives. Youngcare is committed to create change, and provide relevant and dignified accommodation alternatives for young people with high care needs.
Youngcare’s purpose is to put hope, dignity and possibilities into people’s lives. A young person forced to live in an aged care nursing home is deprived of all of this. Whilst Acquired Brain Injuries and diseases such as MS and Motor Neurones may remove many future possibilities for young people in nursing homes, they should not deprive people of dignity and hope.
With the assistance of the community, government and business, Youngcare aims to create change by building a number of purpose designed apartments across Australia for young people requiring full time nursing care. In addition, Youngcare will look toward providing other care alternatives such as holiday accommodation, respite care and in-home assistance.
Our ongoing support will go directly toward providing other alternatives such as more Youngcare Apartments nationwide, travel assistance and holiday accommodation for young people with high care needs and their families.

RSPCA

RSPCA Australia believes that humans must treat animals humanely. Where we make use of animals or interfere with their habitat, we should bestow a level of care befitting our own dignity as a rational, intelligent, compassionate being, and a level of care merited by the nature of the animal as creatures capable of responding to our care and attention. Such care should be marked by sympathy, consideration, compassion and tenderness towards animals.

The Objectives of the Society are:

  • To prevent cruelty to animals by enforcing the existing laws.
  • To procure the passage of such amending or new legislation as is necessary for the protection of animals.
  • To sustain an intelligent public opinion regarding animal welfare.
  • To take whatsoever steps are necessary to educate the community with regard to the humane treatment of animals.
  • To diffuse information about the care, protection and treatment of animals by publishing and circulating literature and conducting lectures, seminars and competitions.
  • To conduct, manage, operate or encourage clinics, hospitals, homes or shelters for the care, treatment, maintenance and protection of animals, and to acquire and conduct ambulance and/or other means of relevant animal transport.
