Cooper Grace Ward is a finalist in three separate categories in one of the legal industry’s most prestigious award ceremonies, the 2019 Australasian Law Awards.

The Brisbane based law firm is a finalist for the categories of State/Regional Firm of the Year, the Excellence in Employee Health & Wellbeing Award and Law Firm Leader of the Year (<200 lawyers).

The State/Regional Firm of the Year award is open to non-national law firms that are headquartered in and derive the majority of their revenue from a single state or from regional areas and is judged on excellence in client service and demonstrated expertise across a range of practice areas.

The Excellence in Employee Health & Wellbeing Award is judged on the quantity, quality, impact and innovativeness of a firm’s employee health and wellbeing initiatives during 2018.

In addition, the firm’s managing partner, Chris Ward has been shortlisted as a finalist for Law Firm Leader of the Year (<200 lawyers). Chris has been a litigator for nearly all his 42 years of practice, focusing on the areas of insurance law, commercial litigation, family and de facto law.

Chris founded the firm in 1980 with Peter Cooper and David Grace, and took the reins as managing partner in October 2005 in the wake of the firm’s 25th anniversary. As leader of the firm, Chris defines the essence of our culture, with a strong focus on values, team engagement, client service and corporate citizenship.

The Australasian Law Awards celebrate the outstanding achievements of Australian and New Zealand’s leading legal professionals, firms and in-house teams for their contribution to the industry over the past year.

The winners will be announced in Sydney on Thursday, 23 May.
